October 5th-7th 2012 Old Rag Campout, Hike on Old Rag Mountain in Shenandoah National Park.

September 6th 2012, First Scout Meeting of the new Scouting Year, Mr. Ernest Hale who was a member of Troop 31 in 1938 came by to talk to the scouts about what the Troop was like before World War II and how he learned to work together as a team in Scouts.

Canoe Trip in Scottsville Virginia on the James River with the James River Runners July 20th-21st 2012.

2012 Summer Camp at Bayport Scout Reservation June 24th-30th.

Flag Retirement Ceremony and Flag Day Celebration at VFW 3219 in Phoebus, 14 June 2012.

Summer Court of Honor and the Troop’s 93rd Birthday celebration at the Chapel of the Centurion, 7 June 2012. Mr. Chuck Valiant, 1953 Eagle Scout, was our guest speaker and had a wonderful message about being Trustworthy.

Fort Monroe Flag Raising Ceremony hosted by Mr. Glen Oder, Fort Monroe Authority, on 24 May 12. National Park Services Color Guard received the U.S. Flag from Troop 31 Color Guard before raising the flag above the fort for the first time since last August when the military departed the fort.

U.S. Coast Guard Station at Yorktown campout 4-6 May 2012 focused on Bird Study and Cooking (including shopping – oh boy!) Merit Badges and a bunch of Scouting Skills. We even had two Board of Reviews – one for Tenderfoot and the other for Life Scout. Great job guys!

Sherando Lake, Fountain Cave, in George Washington National Forrest, 20-22 April 12. Outstanding campout where the Troop explored the Fountain Cave via Spelunking and others enjoyed earning their Fishing MB at the beautiful Lake Sherando.
